Towson University

It is the public university located in Towson in Baltimore country Maryland US. It often referred to as TU or simply Towson for short. Towson university is the part of the university of the st Maryland .In 1866 Towson university as Maryland first training schools for teachers was founded. 4 years degree granting institutions consisting of 8 colleges with over 20000 students enrolled by Towson university .The largest public universities in Maryland is Towson universities. Towson universities still produces the most teachers of any university of the state.In the public universities masters category for its 2010 Americas best colleges issues the Towson university rise in 8 categories of the Us news and the world report
.In 2009 list of the top public colleges and universities in the united states Forbes includes Towson universities
Towson university was named by the kip lingers personal finance magazine one of the top 100 public colleges for the 2008-2009 academic year. In 1865 the general assembly of the Maryland established became Towson university. with the allocation of funds directed toward Maryland’s first teacher-training school, or then called "normal school" Towson university was known as the Maryland state normal school on January 15, 1866 officially opened its door as part of the substantial modern educational reformed.
The radical republican party dominated Maryland constitution of 1864 of the civil war era state government which was provided for a new state superintendent of public instruction.In 1829 in Baltimore city a boards of education to be appointed  to advise and supervise the counties, in addition to the already progressive public educational system.In Baltimore located then at red mans hall on north pacey street the eleven student was enrolled by the new teachers and fostered three faculty members.The schools first principle was served by the McFadden Alexander newel ,he is also the superintendent of the public  Instruction and oversaw the first graduating class of sixteen students in June 1866.
The enrollment in the school grew continuously as time passed.In red mans hall on pace street the state normal school soon quickly outgrew its temporary facilities and moved to another temporary location in 1873 on the north Charles and east Franklin streets.In the former William Howard Greek revival mansion and his family was now starting to develop and lay out city streets In 1863 the landmark mansion was later known as the union club and later became the Athena club.In the following year the General Assembly appropriated money to construct an exclusive building to house the burgeoning school. 
The Normal School moved its faculty and 206 students to this new landmark facility located in West Baltimore facing Lafayette Square on Carroll-ton and Lafayette Avenues in 1876.
