CWIN makes efforts to promote and ensure children’s participation
in the child rights movement. CWIN believes in working ‘WITH’ children and
empowering them to realize their rights. It facilitates Child Rights Forums
formed by children for the rights of children. It also
facilitates CWIN street theatre and the CWIN sports club.

While
advocating for policy change and awareness, CWIN supports children at risk by
providing emergency help, socialization resources, education and capacity
building for social reintegration and empowerment. CWIN runs a helpline system
(in Kathmandu and Biratnagar) with hotline telephones, an ambulance, counseling
and medical and legal services. CWIN also runs Hamro Sajha Thalo, socialization
and empowerment programme for street and other children at risk, which is
successfully facilitated by Former Street and working children.
CWIN
focuses on the children who are victims of social, economical, political and
family exploitation and abuse, which is living in very difficult and risky
situation. The main aim of CWIN is the empowerment and capacity building of the
target groups. Considering that it is a most challenging job to work for the
empowerment of such a group who is deprived of even the basic necessities.
CWIN’s
Support And Services
In 2004,
CWIN programmes supported 16943 children at risk through socialization,
educational support, family reunions, health services, psychological
counseling, skill development etc.
Emergency
Support
CWIN Help
lines in Kathmandu and Biratnagar provided emergency, rescue and referral
support to 2621 cases and legal aid to 60 children in crisis.
Socialization
and Referrals
CWIN
center for children at risk, CWIN Balika, CWIN Pokhara and CWIN Hamro Sajha
Thalo assisted some 1292 children from different risk backgrounds through
socialization with an aim to reintegrate the children in society.
Educational
Support
CWIN
Educational Support Programme together with CWIN CIAC, CWIN CIC, CWIN CIRCLE
and other CWIN Centers, was able to provide educational support to 6109
children in need.CWIN Sunrise Home also provided residential facilities for
children going to school.
Health
Services\ Psychological Counseling
CWIN
Health Clinic under CWIN Helpline along with CWIN’s different programmes,
including those in conflict ridden areas, provided health services and medical
care to more than 5242 children through health camps, emergency service etc.
CWIN
this year provided psychological counseling to some 1500 children.
Self-reliance
and Empowerment
More
than 600 young people gained the opportunity to become self reliant through
skill and vocational training. Many young people have received jobs and some
have started their own business.
Means of
contact
CWIN
comes in contact with the children in risky condition as of street children,
sexually abused, those working in hazardous situation,etc. through different
sources and contacts it has developed in course of it’s work in this field as
the pioneer organization.
